Our competition is open to all school choirs in the Philadelphia eight-county area. This year's competition has two divisions, Kindergarten
through 8th and 9th through 12th each with nine finalists.
First place winners from each division will receive $5,000 for their school's music department, an opportunity to perform at the Kimmel Center
with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops and well, bragging rights! Second place will receive a cash award of $2,000 and third place $1,000.
The cash prizes are courtesy of your local Mercedes-Benz dealers and B101.
All qualified schools submitting an entry into B101's Christmas Choir Competition will be qualified to win one of two upright pianos – Cunningham Model 125 Studio Piano, retail value of $7,390 from Cunningham Piano.
We'll be accepting school song entries from schools starting Monday, October 31st through Monday, November 28th.
Voting for Division 1 (grades K-8) will start on Monday, December 5th and Division 2 (grades 9-12) will start on
Monday, December 12th. Voting will follow Tiffany and Michael's announcement of the finalists competing that day (around 7AM).
Schools selected as finalists for this competition will be notified on the Friday prior to the start of the voting for their division.
WBEB will give Kindergarten through 12th grade school choirs in the Philadelphia 8-county area (including Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware, Chester & Philadelphia in Pennsylvania and Camden, Gloucester & Burlington counties in New Jersey) a chance to claim the title as B101’s 2011 Christmas Choir Competition winner.

Performance with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops
Division I Performance date is Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 8 pm at the Kimmel Center.
Division II Performance date is Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 8 pm at the Kimmel Center.
Each division winning choir will be recognized at the performance and will be asked to perform their winning song, accompanied by the legendary Peter Nero on piano.
Peter Nero and the Philly Pops will provide tickets for all choir members and the choir director to attend the show free of charge.
2nd Place: $2,000 cash prize
3rd Place: $1,000 cash prize
RANDOM DRAWING: All qualified schools submitting an entry into B101’s Christmas Choir Competition will be qualified to win
one of two upright pianos, valued at a minimum of $6,000 from Cunningham Piano. One Piano will be randomly awarded to one school in each division after the voting period has closed – on or around December 1, 2011.
SUBMISSION INFORMATION: October 31 – November 28, 2011. School choirs are responsible for submitting entries beginning on October 31st through 11:59 pm on Monday, November 28, 2011. Each entry must include one (1) holiday song recorded on CD or common audio file such as an mp3 or wav and include the lead representative’s name, school, and contact information. Desired length for song submission is two minutes or less. The representative submitting the entry is responsible for having received previous written permission from all performers or from a parent or legal guardian if the performer is less than 18 years of age. By submitting an entry, the representative acknowledges that the school has secured applicable licensing for their use of the submitted song.
One entry per choir, singing group or performance unit. Realizing that schools may have multiple choirs based on grade level and size, separate multiple entries may be submitted from any individual school. Submissions will be placed in either Division I (Kindergarten – 8th grade) or Division II (9th grade – 12th grade). If a school has any choir member in grade 9 or older, that school will automatically be judged in the older division (Division II). Each entry must be submitted as a separate CD via mail, online at b101radio.com, or dropped off at the WBEB Studios, 225 E. City Ave., Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004. Entry deadline is Monday, November 28, 2011 at 11:59 pm.
Each entry will be judged for professional sound and performance quality. Choirs will be selected by WBEB judges to participate in the competition.
FINALIST INFORMATION: Each choir selected to be in the competition will receive one airplay of their entry on B101 and compete against another choir(s) for votes. Votes will be taken and tabulated online at www.b101radio.com for each day’s competition until 9 pm the day of airplay. Winners will then move into the next round of competition where winning choirs will be determined as described above.

One grand prize winner for Division I will be announced on December 9th, 2011 during the morning show with Tiffany Hill and Michael Chew.
Division II (9th – 12th grade): December 12 – 16, 2011. Nine semi-finalists will be selected to compete. Three schools will be showcased on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (December 12th, 13th and 14th), with the winners of each daily competition advancing to the finals on Thursday, December 15th 2011. One grand prize winner for Division II will be announced on December 16th, 2011 during the morning show with Tiffany Hill and Michael Chew.
VOTING RULES:
Log on to B101radio.com and click on the Christmas Choir Contest link to vote for your favorite school choir. Voters are presented with options to vote for the competing schools for that given day.
The voting period each day will be from the time all songs are played on B101 up until 9 pm that evening.
For both divisions, the school choir receiving the most eligible votes on the WBEB website will win the 1st Place prize of a $5,000 cash prize and the opportunity to perform with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops. The school choir receiving the second highest votes will receive a $2,000 cash prize and the school choir receiving the lowest number of votes will receive a $1,000 cash prize.

Performance Dates:
Division I: Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 8 pm.
Division II: Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 8 pm.
NOTE: If winning school in either division is unable to perform at this event, it will not disqualify school from competition. WBEB reserves the right to select an alternate school (1st runner up) in their division to participate on our behalf at the designated Holiday Pops show.
Requirements for winning choirs at the Holiday Pops Performance:
All semi-finalists in both divisions must submit their sheet music to WBEB by Friday, December 2, 2011 to be involved in the competition. This music will then be forwarded to Peter Nero and the Philly Pops for accompaniment purposes.
Choir members singing on stage are limited to 50 people for safety reasons
Choirs will arrive one hour prior to the show and will be taken to a special staging area until their time to perform.
School Choir directors must meet with the Philly Pops for a walk-through at the Kimmel Center prior to the performance date.
The Choirs are not permitted to bring in any outside food or beverages.
Choirs are expected to dress in a uniform manner, or in black pants/skirts and white shirts.
Schools must provide adult chaperones at a rate of 5:1.
The Philly Pops will provide a 25% discount to all school parents. A discount of 30% will be available to groups of 15 or more.
WBEB is not responsible for inability to vote on the station’s website due to technical difficulties. Prize will not be awarded to any individual(s) but will be awarded to the legal school district or organization operating the winning school. Prize cannot be transferred or substituted.
WBEB is not responsible if Contest cannot take place or if Prize cannot be awarded due to delays or interruptions due to acts of God, acts of war, natural disasters, weather or acts of terrorism.
B101 reserves the right to terminate the contest or permanently disqualify any person believed to have intentionally violated these official rules. Any attempt to deliberately damage the contest or the operation thereof is unlawful and subject to legal action by B101, who may seek damages to the fullest extent permitted by law. B101 reserves the right to cancel, suspend or modify the contest or any element thereof (including, without limitation, these official rules) without notice in any manner and for any reason (including, without limitation, in the event of any unanticipated occurrence that is not fully addressed in these Official Rules)
In the event of cancellation, modification or suspension, B101 reserves the right to select a finalist and/or grand prize winner, as applicable, and award all remaining prizes at our sole discretion from among all eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to the time of the event warranting such cancellation, modification or suspension based on the judging criteria described above.
Contest is open to all Kindergarten through 12th grade public or private schools accredited by the States of Pennsylvania & New Jersey in the Philadelphia eight-county area of Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware, Chester & Philadelphia in Pennsylvania and Camden, Gloucester & Burlington counties in New Jersey. Chances of winning will be determined by the number of entries received and votes received and are not possible to calculate at this time.
WBEB retains sole and exclusive possession and retains all rights to use any performance entry, or any part there of, indefinitely in any promotions including but not limited to on-air usage. The aforementioned stipulations apply to all winning and non-winning entries. By entering the contest, entrants grant B101 the non-exclusive, royalty free and irrevocable right to use, reproduce, copy, publish, display, distribute, perform, translate, adapt, modify, edit (including for length) the entry and incorporate it in other works in any and all markets, media now hereafter known worldwide in perpetuity without additional compensation, notification, permission or approval.
WBEB and participating sponsors are not responsible for costs associated with submitting any entry or any costs or taxes arising out of participating in the contest or failure to adhere to official contest rules.
WBEB and participating sponsors are not responsible for any injury incurred during the performance of any entry; nor are they responsible for failure of any individual or organization’s failure to submit entries in the required manner.
All prizes are to be claimed at the WBEB Studios or as decided upon once they have been won. Winners are required to present a valid article of identification. All identification submitted to verify a winner is subject to acceptance by WBEB in its sole discretion. Identification which is counterfeit, illegible, tampered with or otherwise altered will not be accepted.
Where applicable; WBEB, affiliates, participating sponsors, their agencies and the like, or any member thereof, make no claims of merchantability or validity of Prize. See manufacturer(s)/ producer for complete warranty and operating instructions as it pertains to Prize.
Employees of WBEB, their advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees and immediate families of each, and employees of all radio media of mass communication within a one hundred mile radius of the WBEB main studio are not eligible to win any contest. Immediate family includes spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse.
